This is an English-Chinese translation report about family education. The source text is excerpted from The Busy Parents' Guide to Managing Anxiety in Children and Teens written by Dr.Laurie Hollman who is a psychoanalyst. This book not only coins Parental Intelligence as a term but also introduces four kinds of common anxieties with correct methods to manage them.In this translation report, the translator states the translation difficulties at the lexical level, syntactic level and textual level and proposes corresponding translation methods.Annotation and choosing words' meaning according to context are used to deal with the difficulties of translating psychoanalytic terminologies and polysemy. As for the translation of relative clauses and parentheses, the translator follows division, combination, putting parentheses in round brackets and putting parentheses in sentence-initial positions.Besides,in order to improve the coherence and accuracy of the target text, the translator adopts to choosing proper Chinese expressions and adding logical conjunctive words at textual level. This translation practice puts forward some theories about family education from America, which can be applied to the specific challenges faced by domestic parents.Furthermore, the translator starts to believe that it is important to adopt appropriate translation methods according to the language features of the source text, which is helpful to accurately convey the meaning of the source text and improve the coherence of the target text.
