Qiu Shi-Ming(1898-1970),formerly known as Shuzi,the word "children",was named Shi-Ming Shan Ren.BaiSha Town,Shiqian County,Guizhou Province.Famous painters and art educators in modern China.He devoted all his life to the study of traditional Chinese painting and art education practice,created many excellent works,and trained a large number of talents for our country's art cause.Qiu Shiming's life is closely related to the social changes in China in the 20 th century.The 20 th century is an era in which various social trends of thought are extremely active.During this century,Chinese painting and the whole Chinese society have jointly embarked on the road of modernization.Qiu Shi-ming is the guardian of traditional Chinese painting.He adheres to the concept and spirit of traditional painting both in his personal creation and in his teaching practice.This paper takes Qiu Shiming as a case study,takes his life track as a clue,combines the historical changes and cultural background of Chinese society in the 20 th century,interprets Qiu Shiming's life course,summarizes his artistic creation style and characteristics,and discusses his painting thought and art education thought,as well as his position and influence in the history of modern Chinese art.The paper consists of five chapters.The first chapter is the introduction;Chapter two is an overview of Qiu Shiming's life;Chapter three is the study of Qiu Shiming's artistic creation,which is discussed from the aspects of painting,calligraphy,seal carving and poetry;Chapter four is Qiu Shiming's idea of painting,which is based on the two disputes of Chinese painting in the 20 th century;The fifth chapter is to sort out Qiu Shiming's art education practice.
