In recent years,due to the relatively backward economic development conditions in rural areas,investment for rural teachers in education resources has been far less than their counterparts in the city,which has a negative effect on teachers' personal teaching beliefs.In the complicated rural environment,English teachers are short of teaching experience and are lacking in professional training opportunities.How to realize their personal growth and development make it a realistic problem that needs to be solved.Based on this situation,this thesis takes 40 English teachers in three junior high schools in Lipu,Guangxi as the research subject and does research for the English teachers' teaching beliefs in rural areas.Through investigation and analysis on the English teachers' teaching beliefs in Guangxi rural areas,this thesis intends to examine the current status quo and existing problems of the English teachers' teaching beliefs,explore the internal and external factors that promote or hinder the development of these English teachers' teaching beliefs,so as to put forth some promotion strategies and suggestions for the development of teaching beliefs of English teachers in rural junior middle schools in Guangxi.This research mainly means to explore the following three questions: 1)What is the general situation of the junior high school English teachers' teaching beliefs in the rural areas? 2)What are the problems existing in the junior high school English teachers' teaching beliefs in the rural areas? 3)What are the factors leading to the problems in the junior high school English teacher's teaching beliefs in the rural areas? Questionnaire and interview are the major methods used in this research.From the concrete data analysis and real first-line teacher interviews,the author finds the following problems in the teaching beliefs of the English teachers: unscientific professional attitude,the lack of professional capabilities,weak ability to apply theories to reality.Meanwhile,the writer analyzes the reasons for these problems including such factors as low comprehensive quality of the individual,inadequate school support and little social attention.Based on the problems above,the author puts forwards the following the strategies to develop the English teachers' teaching beliefs in Guangxi rural junior middle schools: Firstly,improving teaching belief attitude,strengthening professional theory foundation and enhancing professional ability level.Secondly,Innovating management concept,improving management system,strengthening organization guarantee,improving training level,and further strengthening teaching beliefs support.Thirdly,strengthening the guidance of public opinion and multiple education measures to enhance social attention.
