A Study On The Frog Totem Of The Minorities From The Perspective Of Semiotics

China is a multi-ethnic country with 56 nationalities.The traditional culture of all ethnic groups has witnessed the development and integration of the Chinese ethnic groups as well as the history of their changes,which is the precious spiritual wealth of mankind.As a part of the traditional national culture,the frog totem culture is gradually dying out with the development of the times in the long river of history.Therefore when everyone knows that now it is urgent to protect the minority culture,it is of great significance to know about and understand the traditional totemic culture.Besides,the whole development of the human culture has something to do with the symbolic thinking and activities.And the development of semiotics has always gone hand in hand with the development of human civilization,so semiotics has been applied in many aspects of human life.Therefore,the frog totem of the minorities is a living fossil to study the form and structure of primitive society,which has got this function in the sense of semiotics.Therefore,the frog totem symbols of minorities will be sorted out from the perspective of semantics,pragmatics and language structure in this paper.Firstly,to start with the prehistoric painted pottery with the frog pattern from the perspective of semantics,the paper interpreted the frog totem worship of the Zhuang,Li and Naxi minorities respectively.The totem culture of each minority came into being and developed on the basis of the specific contexts.And the objects of totem they chose to worship are closely related to their living environment and ideology.The totem beliefs of the frog by different nationalities have their similarities and characteristics in the context of generating.Then,different forms of folk customs were sorted out from the perspective of pragmatics.The connotations of the reproduction worship,the worship of the frog God as well as the thunder god,which are represented by the frog totem symbols,are expressed in different pragmatic approaches.Both the non-material part and the physical part are available.The physical substance is the actual expression of the intangible culture.The two parts cannot be separated apart.Together,the development,world outlook and aesthetic orientation of the nationality are brought to full display.Furthermore,the paper analyzed the different forms of artistic sign language in the pragmatic approach,such as the colored pottery,picture-weaving in silk,rockpainting,etc,from the perspective of language structure.And it was found that different pragmatic approaches show different features of language structures.This is not only closely related to the national culture and aesthetics of different nationalities,but also It is determined by the technology of the carrier of frog totem symbols.For example,the geometric style of frog pattern of Li brocade depends largely on the weaving technology of brocade.Through the analysis of the language structure of frog images on different expressive carriers,it was concluded that different expressive forms reflected the aesthetic orientation of different nationalities.But the connotation of the frog totem worship of different minorities had something in common.Finally,through the analysis of the characteristics of traditional frog totem arts,the symbolic formation of the frog images was figured out and It was demonstrated by the design practice.The forms of frog images on different expressive carriers can be summarized as the overall imitation,the simplification of body and the frogman combination.These forms can also be turned into the frog totem symbols and applied to the modern design.Combining with the case analysis of other animal graphics that have been applied in the modern design,we can also sum up the specific application of the totem in the modern design.Finally,they can be applied to the specific design practice.By interpreting the frog totem culture from the perspective of semiotics.Not only can we have a better understanding of the appearance and development of those totems more systematically,but also it can arouse people's awareness of protecting the national culture and enhance the confidence of national culture.By applying the symbolic forms of frog totem to the modern design,it can not only meet people's aesthetic needs.What is more important is that it can arouse people's sense of identity with national culture in the modern time.In this way,it plays a certain role in the promotion and protection of the national culture.
