Chuan-zhu Belief was originated in the Bayu region and experienced the development from the Five Dynasties to the Song and Yuan Dynasties,and spread from Sichuan to all parts of the country,especially in the southwestern region.Chuan-zhu Belief was introduced to Guizhou from the Ming Dynasty and entered the prosperous period in the Qing Dynasty.Based on local geography,gazetteers,cultural relics and other materials,this paper analyzes the statistics of the Chuan-zhu temples from the perspective of historical geography,and explores the spread and feature of the Chuan-zhu Belief with the characteristics of the Bayu culture in Guizhou.It further reflects the interaction of folk groups and cultural exchanges between Sichuan and Guizhou in the Ming and Qing Dynasties.This paper intends to explore the evolution of Guizhou Chuan-zhu Belief from four parts.During the Ming and Qing Dynasties,the people of Sichuan Province entered Guizhou with Chuan-zhu Belief.In addition,with the development of planting agriculture in Guizhou,the water management culture represented by Chuan-zhu Belief is more easily accepted and convinced by the people.Faith is influenced by the original people of Sichuan and other people's beliefs.In the second part,through the statistics of the number of Chuan-zhu temples and the distribution patterns in Guizhou in the Ming and Qing Dynasties,compared further with the distribution of Chuan-zhu Belief in Sichuan.According to statistics,there are at least 20 Chuan-zhu temples in the Guizhou area in the Ming Dynasty.The time is mainly in the Hongwu and Yongle period and the late Ming Dynasty.The space is mainly distributed around the cities and Wei-Suo;there are at least 173 Chuan-zhu temples in the Guizhou area in the Qing Dynasty.Chuan-zhu temples were mainly builded in Daoguang and Guangxu periods.The space is mainly distributed in the towns and markets of Zunyi Prefecture,Guiyang Prefecture,Dading Prefecture,Pingyue Zhili Prefecture,Renhuai Zhili Hall,etc.,and Sizhou Prefecture,Pu'an Hall,Shijie Prefecture,Liping Prefecture,Zhenyuan Prefecture and other places are weak.In addition,the spatial and temporal distribution of Chuan-zhu Belief in Guizhou area is different from that in Sichuan,and there are differences in time and space during the Ming and Qing Dynasties.The third part deals with the objects,distribution and characteristics of the main sacrificial activities in Guizhou,and analysis which compares the differences between the Guizhou's Chuan-zhu Belief and Sichuan's.The fourth part focuses on the analysis of the influence of Chuan-zhu Belief on the social customs and social integration in Guizhou.As a typical folk belief,Chuan-zhu Belief is a concentrated expression of the ancient water management culture and a common belief culture in the southwest.The study of time-pace distribution of Chuan-zhu Belief during the Ming and Qing Dynasties is conducive to strengthening the promotion of excellent traditional folk culture and the protection of architectural art.
