At the end of the qing dynasty,the imperial examinations were abolished,and new schools were set up all over the country.In the thirty-first year of the reign of emperor guangxu of the qing dynasty,Liu Chongben,then the teacher of xiong county higher primary school and the head of the school department,issued the Local Chronicles of Xiong County according to the school affairs office's requirements for compiling the Requirements of local Chronicles.Local Chronicles of Xiong County is the first local Chronicles in the history of xiong county.The content is comprehensive and the language is simple and easy to understand,which has rich historical data value.However,the original version is vertical typesetting without punctuation and body type,which is not in line with modern people's reading habits.Therefore,the author points out and sorts out the basic materials,so as to make a contribution to the public's in-depth understanding of the local records of xiong county and the history of xiong county.The main research object of this paper is the Local Chronicles of Xiong County.Using the methods of literature collection,comparative research,micro and macro research,history and theory.First of all,to carry on the point school work to understand the whole text.Secondly,the collation and research status quo,concept and origin of local Chronicles are explored.This paper introduces the author Liu Chongben's life,the writing background,the book and the sources of historical materials which are difficult to maintain the feudal autocracy of qing dynasty.On this basis,through a large number of related ancient books and documents,find out the existing problems of collation and then to summarize and correct.After that,the author explores the writing characteristics in terms of style and content,and makes a comparative study on the content and style with other records,so as to summarize the shortcomings of the style and content of the Local Chronicles of Xiong County.Finally,on the basis of the previous work,we further explore the historical value of xiong local records in terms of ethnic minorities,products,business records,and the influence on the compilation of later generations' records.
