Research On The Variation Theory Of Comparative Literature

In 2005,Cao Shunqing definitely put forward the variation theory of comparative literature,which well proved the rationality and necessity of cross civilization studies,and injected new vitality into the study of comparative literature at home and abroad.Although this theory has been continuously enriched and updated,the academic circle still lacks of systematic research on it.This thesis tries to clarify an overall cognition of the variation theory,and constructs the system of variation theory.The main line of this thesis is based on the historical development of variation theory.The first part of this thesis is the introduction,which explicates the research status,purpose,and significance of the topic,as well as the research route and innovation points of the thesis.The second part is body paragraphs,and the first chapter starts from the historical dilemma of the development in comparative literature,and to explore the background of the variation theory.Finally,it also clarifies the relationship among the variation theory,the influence study,the parallel study and the Chinese School of comparative literature.The second chapter explains the basic characteristics of variation theory firstly: transcendency,heterogeneity,and literariness.Then,it explains this theory from three major research scopes: cross-language variation studies,cross-cultural variation researches and cross-civilization variation researches.At last,the author probes into the methodology of variation theory.The third chapter is working through the parallel study between ancient Chinese literary theory,cross-civilization theory,imagology,medio-translatology,hermeneutics,reception aesthetics theory and variation theory to explore the theoretical origins and philosophical bases of the variation theory,and focuses on researching principles and methodologies of the variation theory at the same time.The fourth chapter is the research on the significance of variation theory and the understanding,application of the theory by scholars at home and abroad.This thesis has another hidden subsidiary line,which is the horizontal research on the epistemology,ontology and methodology of the variation theory by the way of synchronic,mainly reflected in the second and third chapter.In addition,the thesis also points out the deficiencies of variation theory and the author's research opinions at the present stage to further promote steady and healthy development of the variation theory.
