The universal address form is a small part of the Chinese address system.Considering the Chinese address system is large and there is a vacancy phenomenon,different groups and regions didn't share the same using rules,and there are great differences with other languages,all of these make a great challenge for foreign students who need to learn and use the Chinese address form.Based on the survey of the usage of Chinese universal address forms among foreign students,this paper investigates the use and errors of Chinese universal address forms in foreign students.The findings show that gender,nationality,language proficiency,and the frequency of contacts with Chinese students have some influences on the use of Chinese universal address forms by foreign students.In addition,there are many differences between foreign students and Chinese native speakers in the use of Chinese universal address terms.On the basis of contrast,we find that there are mainly three types of errors in the use of Chinese common address:misuse,abuse and avoidance.The causes of errors are the negative transfer of mother tongue,the interference of learning strategies,the influence of learning environment,and the insufficiency of Chinese address forms.In view of the errors caused by the use of universal address forms by foreign students,this paper puts forward some pertinent teaching suggestions from two angles of country and learning stage.For students from different countries,we should compare with the Chinese language and their mother tounge,which helps students understand the characteristics and usage of Chinese address forms more thoroughly.For students of different stage,in early stage we should focus on help students thoroughly understanding the meaning and use of rules;in the advanced stage,the teaching should be more systematic and we should guide students to make use of the address strategy. |
