Originally built in the Han Dynasty,Pilu temple has a long history and complex cultural origin. The layout of the colored unique sculptures, which have high artistic values,is in reasonable arrangement in space and reach a high degree of consensus with environmental factors.During the Ming and Qing Dynasties,Buddhist culture has infiltrated China culture in many aspects.Confucianism,Taoism and Buddhism are interacted, forming a set of religious culture and facilitating political needs.Pilu temple, created by folk artists in form of Buddhist art,in the mature period of the fusion of different cultural schools,is a kind of rare material on Chinese art history. The modeling layout, artistic style, connotation and aesthetic taste of the sculptures in Pilu temple has a strong overall concept.Based on a great deal of historical data and image theory, this thesis analyzes and studies the aesthetic thought, artistic style, modelling layout, color features and molding process of the statue of the Pilu Temple by means of literature analysis, field research and comprehensive analysis.Through these analysis,we can have a better understanding of the aesthetic value and cultural essence of the art of image creation. This thesis can be divided into four chapters. The first chapter gives a brief introduction of Pilu Temple and the Chinese painted clay sculpture works. The second chapter is about the artistic style of Chinese Buddhist sculptures and their influence on Pilu temple, including the elegant and serene modelling tone under the influence of Confucianism and Taoism, and the tradition of strict adherence to production norms. The third chapter analyzes the artistic features and facial features of the statue in Pilu Temple, including the setting of Xumishan, the multiple meanings of the three Holy positions, and the transition and interaction between three dimensional and two-dimensional plane shapes, the artistic characteristics of painting and statue, the symbolic characteristics of color setting,as well as mature unique painting, asphalt paste gold production process. In the fourth chapter, the author summarizes the artistic value of the art of building images of the Pilu Temple in pursuit of the refinement and simplicity of the "imitator".Unlike the desire of Western art to reproduce nature, the expressive visual art of Eastern art is rooted in our national culture, waiting for us to realize and draw inspiration from it.It is hoped that the analysis of the artistic features, modelling layout and color craft of thisthesis will play an active role in the future artistic creation and research in the related fields.
