In ancient Chinese society, women have long been subordinate to men,and there are very few records of women. If study is divorced from women in every period,it is bound to be incomplete. There are almost chaste women in “Biographies for Chaste Women”,though it can not cover all female groups,it is a systematic record of women. Therefore,it has become an important historical material for us to study women and even to glimpse the complete picture of society in specific periods and specific regions.Although Jiangxi has been far away from the national political center for a long time,it has played an important role in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Its influence has spread throughout most of China. Therefore,in order to have a deeper understanding of the whole society and its great influence in Jiangxi during the Ming and Qing dynasties, the author started from the perspective of chaste women. The paper is divided into five parts. It systematically discusses the economic and cultural backgrounds of chaste women in Jiangxi Province during the Ming and Qing Dynasties, and issues such as the basic situation of women. Therefore, revealing the true living conditions of women in Jiangxi during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The first part is about the general overview of the “Biographies for Chaste Women”contained in the four “Jiangxi Chorography” of the Ming and Qing Dynasties.Through a comparative analysis of the compilation purpose, compilation scale, and the attitudes of the local chroniclers of the “Biographies for Chaste Women”contained in the four branches of the“Jiangxi Chorography”,a more comprehensive and systematic understanding of women in Jiangxi during the Ming and Qing dynasties was made. The second part is about the social background of the large number of chaste women in Jiangxi during the Ming and Qing dynasties. The large-scale emergence ofchaste women in Jiangxi during the Ming and Qing dynasties was not enough to be explained simply by the traditionally well-known concept of the development of the traditional chastity, the imperialism of the imperial court, and the orientation of social ethics. In the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the prevailing winds of the Jiangxi provincial examination and business practices were also important factors for its emergence. The third part is about the composition of chaste women in Jiangxi. This part systematically analyzes the types of chaste women listed in Jiangxi during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The classification of females can have more structured understanding of chaste women. The analysis of the starting time of women's feasts, the length of feasts, and their longevity can know women's real living conditions. To list women's emotional psychology. The fourth part analyzes the female families in Jiangxi. It includes the economic status of the family in which women in Jiangxi live, the roles women play in their families and society, and the rewards they receive under such roles. This section emphasizes that under the condition of poor family members,Jiangxi chaste women still actively undertake their family and social responsibilities. They have made important contributions in maintaining social stability and consolidating the status of Jiangxi as a business and scientific province. This shows the mental outlook of Jiangxi's stubborn surviving women and the selfless dedication of home and country. In the fifth part, the full text of the article discusses the hidden factors of women's feudal festivals, and points out that under the burden of family responsibilities such as filial piety, childbirth, and class reading, the family often forces them to remarry. The root cause lies in the struggle for the economic interests of the women and the husbands' family, the evasion of the hard life, and the illusion of the inherited names.
