During Ming and Qing Dynasties(1368-1840), Zhangjiang-Dayuling-Ganjiang channel is not only the artery of the border between Guangdong province and Jiangxi province but also the artery of the North and the South of China and it particularly plays an foremost role in Ming and Qing period when the policy of closing up to the world is practiced, with only Guangdong port open to outside. Zhangjiang-Dayuling-Ganjiang channel and Xunwushui-the East river channel plays an important role in the transformation of the society of border between Guangdong and Jiangxi during Ming and Qing period. The spur by cross-border trade to local mountainous area's economy and the adjustment to its economy structure, the transfer of immigrants in Fujian, Guangdong and Jiangxi and the exploitation of the mountainous area, various social problems that occure gradually with the progress in exploiting the mountainous area and the transfer of immigrants as well as a series of policies and measures carried out by Ming and Qing governments, differences in the development in mountainous culture extra. All mentioned above show that transportation leads to the change of the mountainous society of the border between Guangdong and Jiangxi.
