The “Superfluous Things” of the Ming Dynasty which write by Wen Zhenheng is an appreciation book for the literati living in Suzhou.The book consists of 12 volumes and covers more than 200 kinds of “Superfluous Things”.It covers all aspects of clothing,food and lodging,and reflects the aesthetic taste of the scholar stratum who live in the Late Ming Dynasty.These “unnecessary things” also depict a picture of the Jiangnan social status and material culture in the late Ming period.Based on the text of “Superfluous Things”,this thesis is mainly explores Wen Zhenheng's aesthetic thinking of “unnecessary things” which based on the socio-economic status of Jiangnan during the late Ming period,and comments on the aesthetic characteristics of the literati at that time.Finally,it explores the aestheticization of daily life in the contemporary era.And the value of “Superfluous Things” in today's life.This thesis will use three parts of the study to present “Superfluous Things” and its aesthetic ideas.The first part will sort out the family origins of the Wen family in Changzhou(Suzhou),and the second part will discuss the “unnecessary things” in the era of commodity economy.The third part studies the text of “Superfluous Things” and analyzes Wen Zhenheng's appreciation language and appreciation style.The final conclusion is based on the research results of “Superfluous Things”,then reviews the aesthetic style of the late Ming period,and refines the contemporary values of aesthetic ideas in “Superfluous Things”,and thinks about the significance of Wen Zhenheng's idea in our daily life.In the research,the author finds that the aesthetic style under the special social background in the late Ming period reflects the sense of self-identity of various social status,and divides the social stratum through the distinction of aesthetic tastes.This has a great similarity with the aesthetic structure of contemporary society.The author intends to seek the similarities and differences between the aesthetic aesthetics of the two eras.The “Elegant Taste” of the core aesthetic features in “Superfluous Things” is also the keyword of today's modern ideal lifestyle.Through the exploration of the ancient literati's elegant taste,it will be possible to reconstruct this aesthetic idea in the contemporary era.
