Study On The System Of Tombs And Coffins In The Dian Culture

The Dian culture is the archaeological culture of the Bronze Age in Yunnan Province,it is mainly distributed in the central and eastern parts of Yunnan Province,it is centered on Dianchi area and three lakes area of Yuxi--Fuxian Lake,Xingyun Lake,and Qilu Lake.Almost all of the characteristics of the Dian culture are expressed in the form of tombs,coffins as an important part of ancient funeral rituals,through the collation and research of the coffins in the Tombs of the Dian Culture,which can supplement and improve the research of the Dian Culture.The primary content of this study is based on the existing archaeological excavation materials,focusing on the three Dian culture typical burial sites in Shizhai Mountain in Jinning,Lijia Mountain in Jiangchuan,and Yangfutou in Kunming,systematically organize the data of all coffins of tombs in Dian cultural,summarize and analyze the coffins characteristics of the tombs in Dian culture from the aspects of the shape,decoration,ancillary facilities,special burial,etc.Then,combined with the composition,shape and number of funerary goods,all the tombs were divided into three levels: large tombs,medium tombs,and small tombs,using typology,statistics,and comparative research methods to analyze the use of coffins at different levels of tombs.Secondly,this paper divides the Tombs of the Dian Culture into three phases:the first phase of the middle and late Warring States,the second phase of the early and middle Western Han Dynasty,and the third phase of the late Western Han Dynasty,based on this,analyzes the evolution and relationship between the early and the late regarding to system of tombs and coffins in the Dian Culture.In the last,based on the summary of the system of tombs and coffins in the Dian Culture,analyzes the social patterns of the Dian culture,in addition,from system of tombs and coffins,see the influence of Dianxi regional culture and Bashu regional culture on Dian culture.
