Han Yu Da Zi Dian, a large-scale historical expounding Chinese dictionary, and Han Yu Da Ci Dian, a giant collective dictionary of achievements of both the ancient and the modern, are most prestigious dictionaries with their impressive features in Chinese lexicography filed. Yet, understandably, both have their flaws, particularly with regard to Gu Jin Zi, which is demonstrated by the following aspects: first, the lack of the explicit marking of some of typical Gu Jin Zi, such as : Dao/Dao, Xian/Xuan, ect; second, the mixture up of Gu Jin Zi with Yi Ti Zi and Tong Jia Zi, such as Qi and Ji are marked as Yi Ti Zi, and Jie and Xie are marked as Tong Jia ZiGuided by the scientific cognition of the historical existence of Gu Jin Zi this paper partially examines and identifies the above-mentioned flaws in these two dictionaries. This paper first confirms the category of Gu Jin Zi through thoroughly and systematically collecting and analyzing the various viewpoints held formerly in this regard; second, by choosing some typical and Gu Jin Zi as research objects, examining their respective markings in two dictionaries with Han Yu Da Zi Dian as major resource contrasted to that of Han Yu Ci Dian, this paper conducts a classified statistics about the markings of Gu Jin Zi resulting in a summarizing list and then gives a supplementation to it...
