A Study On Contemporary Jingdezhen Drifters In Ceramic Art Creation With Cultural Combination

Jingdezhen City,also called "Porcelain City",whose porcelain is known as "white as jade,bright as a mirror,thin as paper and sound as a chime”.This traditional handicraft city has been kept alive from generations to generations for thousand years,appearing countless admired people.With the increasing arrival of “Jingdezhen Drifters”,who have become a great power in the development of porcelain market in this city.This essay discusses the porcelain art creation by Jingdezhen Drifters from the aspect of cultural combination,which is divided into three parts:First,from the point of technology,many workers from other porcelain producing areas have brought in new technology,combining with the superior resources like local materials and burning arts,whose products have their own style.What is more,the outstanding ones discovered new glaze in the continuous test.Second,from the perspective of painting,the majority of porcelain paintings is based on traditional Chinese painting skills in the local artists.However,the collecting craze has attracted many artists from other fields to conduct cross-boundary cooperation.Many of them regard the porcelain paintings as a new kind of creation in another fields.Third,from the aspect of shape,the difference between the contemporary and the mainstream shape is quite obvious.The former is more focused on ornamental effects while the practical effects are on the second.In the development of the form,contemporary college students play a significant role in the mainstream.Although they may not be able to compare with the mature artists in technical skills and knowledge,they are younger and more creative.They are more influenced by contemporary aesthetic,shaped by lines and geometric shapes.Different lines and shapes are combined in the form of formal beauty,forming ceramic shapes with different volume,contour,space and size.In today's information and economic globalization,the culture of Chinese or Western,or different local parts are constantly merging.The contemporary "Jingdezhen Drifters" has its own distinct characteristics of the times,building a new bridge for the external communication for the city.
