English reading plays an important role in students' listening,speaking,reading and writing skills,and English reading is also one of the important ways to cultivate students' English learning and application abilities.With the development of society,teachers need to cultivate and improve students' English comprehensive ability and promote the overall development of students' English learning.Therefore,improving students' English reading ability is an important part and task of high school English teaching.With the continuous deepening of new curriculum reform,teachers actively explore new ways and methods to improve students' English reading ability.As a new teaching method,scaffolding teaching mode has been applied in various fields such as information and medicine.However,there are few studies on the application of scaffolding teaching in high school English reading.Therefore,this paper combines the scaffolding teaching theory with high school English reading teaching to study the impact of scaffolding teaching on senior high school students' English reading performance and to explore the impact of scaffolding teaching on students' learning autonomy.The purpose of this paper is to find new suitable teaching methods for high school English classes and provide new enlightenments for teaching and learning.In order to achieve theory guides practice and practice enriches theory.This paper selects two classes with the same level as the experimental subjects.These two classes from a high school in Hulunbuir,Inner Mongolia were respectively as experimental class and control class.The author used tests,questionnaires,and interviews to study.In the process of teaching experiments,the author observed and recorded the class.After the experiment,the author used SPSS19.0 to process and analyze the data of the test paper and the questionnaire.Through the analysis of test scores and questionnaire data,as well as the summary of the interview results,the following conclusions have been drawn: As a novel and effective teaching method,scaffolding can improve students' English reading scores.Scaffolding teaching can improve students' enthusiasm for learning,enhance students' awareness of cooperative learning,foster and develop students' capabilities of independent exploration.Scaffolding teaching can also improve students' self-directed learning.After the scaffolding teaching,students' autonomous learning consciousness,independent learning motivation,autonomous learning strategies and self-efficacy have also been improved.
