Since the 1990s,China has made tremendous efforts in the construction of spiritual civilization along with the process of market-oriented globalization.The film industry has also undergone comprehensive reforms under the guidance of a series of policies during this period.The "sixth generation" directors are active in the development of Chinese films in this context.They are different from the growth experience of the "fifth generation" directors,and they are relatively open to the new ideas of the old system.In the period,he also accepted a relatively complete education.When they started film creation,they ushered in reform and opening up.The changes in the film system during this period provided them with opportunities and challenges.Influenced by personal experience and multiculturalism,their film imaging language is committed to documenting and realistic creation of marginalized groups from a marginalized perspective,paying attention to some of the social realities sacrificed at the expense of the times.These "sixth generation"directors have explored the spirit of breaking the traditional film construction mode,making efforts for individual freedom,vocalizing the marginal people and marginal space of aphasia in the mainstream culture,leaving a record for China's sheltered social reality,image.This thesis is divided into five parts.The first part explains the domestic research on the "sixth generation" director and summarizes the significance of this topic.The second part mainly traces the reasons and background of the intergenerational division and the formation of the"sixth generation" as well as the problems and solutions they face in the film industry.The third part expounds the causes of"marginalization",analyzes some of the film content of some directors to introduce how the marginal groups survive and the environment in which they live,which leads to the directors' realistic nature through the choice of the marginalist theme.For the characteristic expression of the urban and rural areas in the marginal space.The fourth part selects the most representative and most clearly featured directors to analyze their marginalized image language specifically for their film works.
