The Study On Differentiation Of "Bie" And Its Modalization In Modern Chinese

"Bie" is used frequently in modern Chinese.There are three different uses of "Bie" at the synchronic level,namely,the "Bie" of the prohibition usage,the "Bie" of the reminder usage,and the "Bie" of the modality.The "Bie" of the prohibition usage is negative adverb,which is often used in the negative imperative sentence to indicate prohibition or dissuasion.Most predicate components can be used later,including verbs,adjectives,predicate pronouns,and predicate phrases.Under certain circumstances,"Bie" of the prohibition usage can also be used alone.From the perspective of pragmatic function,"Bie" of the prohibition usage can mark the speaker's position and attitude.The remind usage "Bie" indicates a reminder or warning to the listener,followed by a predicate component,including verbs,adjectives,and predicate phrases.From the point of view of pragmatic functions,the remind usage "Bie" can remind the listener of things that are ignored or forgotten,and can remind you of bad results that may occur.When the tone is deepened,it can also indicate a warning.The "Bie" of the modality indicates the speaker's speculation,which is an emotional tone that is uncertain about the information.The "Bie" of the modality can mark the emotional tendency of the speaker,divided into worry-cognitive modality and cognitive modality.From the perspective of pragmatic function,the modality of "Bie" can express the subjective judgment and emotional tendency of the speaker.In the process of interpersonal communication,the language can be slowed down and the acceptability of the discourse can be strengthened.There are also differences between the different usages of“Bie”on the synchronic level.The differences mainly include different subject,different motivating and different transforming powers to reality.The contact is mainly reflected in the modalization process of "Bie"."Bie" has experienced the process that is from the basic meaning of prohibit to the remind meaning,and the modality usage is derived from the remind meaning.In this process,pragmatic reasoning,context absorption,and rhythm change play a very important role.
