The awareness of death is a product of the evolution of the human brain.Humans know they will die one day.But humans are not awaited to die.Obviously,everyone does not want their death to come at the moment,so mankind is caught in the struggle for a mortal outcome and desire to survive.Of course,the awareness of death will not continue to cause distress to human beings as the formation of a set of unique fear management mechanisms as individuals grow and develop.This is the origin of terror management theory.But in life,we can not avoid information about death,disaster in life,news reports of casualties,cancer patients in hospitals.Death is everywhere.How do we deal with the fear of death? How the information of “death” processed in human cognitive process.Death-thought accessibility provides a detection index that reflects the degree to which information about death is extractable in an individual's cognition,and the study examines the impact of different types of death reminders to see the extent of changes in the extent of the death and to explore when individuals suddenly face death reminder,with or without delay task that is distracted when the death of the difference.Experiment 1 was conducted under the indirect reminder of death,using cultural worldview threat materials and measuring the accessibility of death by using the word completion task.The results shows that when the participants was delayed,the death-thought accessibility was higher,This shows that when weakened defense mechanism will lead to increased access to death.Experiment 2 was conducted under the direct reminder of death,and the death reminder material used was adapted from the classic death reminder materials.The results showed that in the case of a delayed task,the higher the degree of death is,indicating that under the direct reminder of death,the individual's accessibility to death will decrease first and the degree of accessibility will only increase as a result of diverting attention.In experiment 3,under the subliminal death reminder condition,lexical decision task was used to measure the death accessibility.The results showed that in the case of no delay task,the subjects had a higher degree of death accessibility,indicating that under the threshold input when information about death is available,the degree of death is temporarily increased,but after a delay,the accessibility of death is reduced.
