The Resarch On New Characters Collected In Zheng Zi Tong Based On Chinese Characters Form Database

Zhang Zilie's "Zheng Zi Tong" is an important character book in the Ming and Qing Dynasties,Its compilation adheres to the principle of "supplementing and correcting errors" in vocabulary "Zi Hui".The character in Zhang's dictionary can be divided into two parts : the transfer characters and the new characters.With the help of the CCFD material Library data platform in Bohai University,We can find that "Zheng Zi Tong" collected 522 more new words than "Zi Hui",accounting for 1.53% of the book.Its new words are collected strictly in accordance with the principle of "having signs in ancient times,conforming to the six books and being universal in current customs",the glyph emphasizes ancient times and punctuality,and the source emphasizes evidence.The explanatory terms of the new characters mainly include three parts: communicating the relationship between characters,revealing the source of the style and judging the value.Through the research we realised that Zhang Zilie has strict orthographic concept and strong idea of "restoring the ancients and starting from the ancients",his selection of new characters is perfectly reasonable and mainly reflected in two aspects: firstly,some ancient Chinese characters with clear etymology and well-founded sources are included;second,we should adhere to the principle of universal use and select the best Chinese characters with high social usage for a long time.Zhang's works are included not only from the handed down documents like "Shuo Wen" and "Han Shu",but also from the unearthed documents.After comparing 522 newly collected characters with "The General Standard Chinese Character List" and "The Standard Chinese Character List of the ‘Ministry of Education of the Republic of China' ",we found that there are 41 words still in use on both sides of the Taiwan Straits,accounting for only 7.95% of the new characters.This part of the names,place names,and other words,which meaning has a strong stability,the structure and meaning is still exit,the rationale still exists,which conforms to the principle of Chinese character standardization and the law of Chinese character self-development,has a strong vitality.The remaining 481 new characters which had been abandoned and not used,were eliminated because they did not conform to the trend of the times.
