When it comes to the Russia,the vast ice and snow world,the boundless birch forest,the leaves withered by the wind and the snowflakes flying are all magnificent sight.Russian music has had a history of its own apart from the music of Western Europe.Music of this place sounds very distant and melancholy,making people feel like their heart drifts to a far place.Speaking of Russian music,we can not but mention Tchaikovsky who wrote a rich and colorful poem in the history of Russian music.The melody's gracefulness,sadness and rich national flavor make people deeply infected.In Tchaikovsky's art songs,all reveal a kind of aesthetic emotion-melancholy emotion.This paper consists of three parts.Starting with the analysis of the melancholy of Tchaikovsky's art songs.In the choice of lyrics,Tchaikovsky prefers poems with sad themes.Negative words such as sadness,melancholy and loneliness recur in the lyrics of his art songs.In his music,the dramatic lyricism of melody deepens the melancholy emotional connotation of music.The second part is the analysis and research of the three art songs "Was I not a blade of glass","Amid the din of the ball" and "Why".Mainly from the song background,lyrics,music analysis and singing analysis of the song carried out a detailed analysis.In the third part,the reasons for Tchaikovsky's melancholy personality are analyzed from three aspects: Russian social and cultural background in the nineteenth century,Tchaikovsky's childhood trauma and Tchaikovsky's unhappy marriage.
