Francis Ford Coppola,the most successful American film director in the last century,is one of the most successful independent filmmakers in contemporary America.Coppola has a unique creative style and unique expression.His films have profound themes and unique narrative style.His films are full of elements of different regions,races and cultures.He collages and combines different elements to make Coppola's film style like a rich film collection,but this does not mean that Francis Ford Coppola's film does not have its own characteristics.Francis Ford Coppola created a new era of Hollywood-type film narrative mode by establishing his critical theme,personalized characters and image-based narrative style.Under his characteristic image narrative creation,classical films such as Godfather and Modern Apocalypse bear more social consciousness and cultural connotation,together with their own special identity,so that the audience can form a deep thinking of human society and human nature from the film.This paper explores the narrative style of Coppola's film imagery in order to study the unique artistic charm of Coppola's film.This paper explores the reasons for Coppola's narrative style and the influence of Coppola on film creation.The main content of this paper is the introduction.This chapter summarizes and combs the problems to be studied.The introduction first gives a brief introduction to the research value and methods,and secondly combs the theoretical background in a more comprehensive way.Then it is the first chapter of this article.The first chapter mainly summarizes and collates Francis Ford Coppola's film creation,artistic characteristics and growing background.By systematically sorting out and summarizing the creation order and growth background of Coppola's films,we can have a general understanding of Coppola's film creation career.The second chapter of this paper mainly combs the relevant theories of film in image narrative,so as to provide a theoretical basis and support for the follow-up study and discussion of Coppola's film image narrative chapters.The third chapter of this paper mainly analyses the audio-visual characteristics and spatial narrative structure of Coppola's films.Through the research,it is found that the auditory characteristics and spatial narrative structure in Coppola's films include light and color,scenery and props,lens combination and non-linear narrative structure.The fourth chapter mainly analyses the time narrative structure of Coppola's films.By studying the time structure of the image narrative style of Coppola's films,we can further understand the characteristics of Coppola's films in influencing the narrative construction.The fifth chapter is the last chapter and the summary chapter of this paper.This chapter will draw a conclusion based on the careful textual analysis of Coppola's films in the previous chapters,aiming at discussing the reasons why Coppola formed a specific image narrative style in film creation.In the last section,the influence of Coppola's image narrative style on the formation of world films is discussed.Through the analysis,it can be concluded that the reasons for Coppola's image narrative style include:Europa complex and immigrant identity,social background and the influence of European art films and Hollywood commercial films.Under the influence of a series of factors,this paper explores how Coppola achieves personalized image narrative while maximizing public acceptance.Through discussion,it is concluded that Coppola's influence on the follow-up film era includes:contributing to the prosperity and stability of the follow-up Hollywood film market,creating a new type of crime film,combining art film with commercial film mode,and creating a new film shooting mode.
