Based on the limitations of traditional teaching methods,more attention should be paid to the new cooperative method,Jigsaw Method,which conforms to the requirement of the new curriculum.The Jigsaw Method attaches more importance to the students'cooperative ability and awareness of cooperation.Every student in the group has his own task and they should also cooperate with each other,which can enhance his interpersonal skills and realize his values.At present,the researchers apply the Jigsaw Method to the colleges and other subject and the research of Jigsaw Method make great progress.However,the researches of Jigsaw Method on junior high school are still few,and the researches on students'interest are few.Therefore,the author aims to apply the Jigsaw Method to the junior high school in English reading and explore whether the Jigsaw Method can help to enhance students'interest.The aims of the thesis are to test whether the Jigsaw Method can improve the reading achievement and enhance students'interest in junior high school.The research is proceed on the Grade eight in junior high school,and the experimental class and the control class are totally 66students.The experiment totally lasted two months from September 15thh to November 15th.Before the experiment,the pretest was carried out between the two classes to check whether reading achievement is similar.During the experiment,the author applied the Jigsaw Method to experimental class,including five parts:group division,task distribution,expert discussion,report in the home group,individual test.Whereas the author used teacher-centered method to teach students in the control class.After the experiment,the post-test was conducted to check whether the reading achievement had improved in experimental class.The Statistical Package for Social Science?SPSS version 22?is used for pre-test and post-test to check whether the Jigsaw Method improves the reading achievement and questionnaires of experimental class are to check whether it can enhance the students'interest on English reading.According to the research,the reading achievement in experimental class is higher than that of control class.Besides,the results of questionnaire revealed that the Jigsaw Method enhances students'interest in English reading significantly.Therefore,the author can draw a conclusion that the Jigsaw Method is an effective teaching method to improve the reading achievement and enhance students'interest.
