During the Eastern Han Dynasty,Mahayana and Hinayana classics were introduced into China almost at the same time.As the earliest translator,An Shigao interpreted the Hinayana classics, and Lokaksema interpreted the Mahayana classics.During the process of communication, thoughts often contain choices. As the translation of the Buddhist scriptures deepened, the later translated scriptures mainly were the Mahayana classics gradually, which represented that the Mahayana thoughts were selected and provided the objective basis for the spread of the Mahayana thoughts.Through the absorption and transformation of Chinese local cultures, only Mahayana was widely spread in the central China."Liberation",the ultimate goal of Buddhism,is the common pursuit of both Mahayana and Hinayana but there are some differences between them. The Hinayana achieves liberation by means of extrication, freeing from conditioning, and facilitating the practice of right dharma to remove all stains, while Mahayana generates the Bodhimind, practice Boddhicitta's activities, breaks down samklesa, proves "Unsurpassed Enlightenment" and melts all living creatures with wisdom and compassion in accordance with the Path to Enlightenment.Hinayana is "Egoism" while Mahayana is "Egoism and Altruism".The difference between them lies in the "altruism" spirit of Mahayana, which reflects the mercy spirit of Mahayana. The Buddha Dharma follows the nidana, and the doctrines are spread in the world in various forms. The Buddhist stories are a way to exhort the common people. With more than 800 words,"the Story of Mu Lian Saving His Mother" originated from Ullambana Sutra, which was translated by Dharmaraksha and concisely narrated that Mulan wants to pay his parents a debt of nursing grace after enlightenment;he looks at the earth by the eyes of Tao and finds that his mother is tortured in hell,so,he wishes to make offerings to all buddhas and monks in July 15,so as to liberate his mother and other parents of seven generations from all sorrows through the power from ten directions.Starting from the key words "saving" and "mother" in the Story of "Mulian Saving His Mother",this paper intends to manifest the mercy view of Mahayana through comprehensive analysis and in-depth explanation."Saving" in the Story of Mulian Saving His Mother namely refers to rescue. The rescue view in Mahayana can be derived from "saving",which is "altruism",the unique spirit of escorting all living creatures. In accordance with the Bodhi mind, the Bodhisattva's activities of Mahayana aim at curing all insistence, practicing all kinds of Sudhamma and maturing all beings. The specific practice ways of Bodhisattva's activities were manifested as "Six Virtues" which is also known as the "Six Paramita",that is six ways and means of realizing liberation:alms giving, disciplining,Khanti, improving, meditation and II Prajna. The spirit of "Six Virtues" was permeated in The Story of Mulian Saving His Mother. In the Story of Mulian Saving His Mother, the view of filial piety in Mahayana could be extended.Since Buddhism was introduced into China, its doctrines and ways of practice have been criticized as "violation of filial piety".However,Buddhism always pays attention to accord with the traditional ethical culture of the middle China and reconcile it in various forms. The "filial piety" in the Story of Mulian Saving His Mother can also be called "Grace Paying".Moreover,in the Ullambana Sutra, the "mother" rescued by Mulian was also known as the "seventh generation equalityof parents",which reflected the combination of Indian Buddhism's "view of " and Chinese traditional thoughts represented by Confucianism. The Story of Mulian Saving His Mother can be regarded as the course of Bodhisattva's cultivation. In the narrative literature of Mulian, the Mahayana's rescue view linked by"saving" and the Mahayana's view of filial piety linked by "mother" are the only way to develop compassion. The analysis of the Story of Mulian Saving His Mother integrated into Chinese culture and Chinese art is used to explore the "Cinicization of Buddhism"through "one hole",so as to constantly adjust itself and integrate with the local traditional culture.
