In recent years,as Liu Cixin and Hao Jingfang won the Hugo Awards,Chinese science fiction flourished, and the style of science fiction is loved by a growing number of readers.Science fiction is a special literary form that combines science and literature, and it is also an indispensable literary form for human development and progress.Chinese science fiction originated from the translation of other country?s science fictions. Its development is conducive to the transmission of scientific, literary knowledge and the stimulation of readers' imagination and creativity.Although the thorough research has been undertaken about the translation of Chinese science fiction, there are still relatively few discussions based on the translation practice and skills. Therefore, the author chooses science fiction themes for tentative translation and exploration, and then provides feasible practical experience for the translation of science fiction. In the translation project, the translator chooses the science fiction The Diamond Age as the translation material. In the translation practice, the translator applied Professor Guo Jianzhong's translation principles to the translation examples and various translation methods are flexibly applied to achieve the translation standards of being literary, scientific and popular in science fiction. This translation report is divided into four chapters. The first chapter is the introduction of the task.It introduces the development of science fiction translation in China, the author and the content of the novel. The second chapter handles the process, including the introduction of pre-translation preparation, translation process and post-translation.The third chapter is devoted to the analysis of the translation cases, exemplified by the translation of new words, translation of person?s character, the description of environment and the translation of poetry. Finally, the translator summarizes the translation practice from three aspects. It includes the importance of pre-preparation,the translation of discrimination against Chinese in the novel and translation difficulties. This translation report is an important part of the translator's MTI learning stage.Through practice and reflection,we can know that Guo Jianzhong's translation methods and standards can guide the translation of science fiction.Meanwhile, the author of this report hopes that this report can enrich related studies and provide a reference for the translation of such novels.
