Igor Fedorovitch Stravinsky(1882-1971)is one of the greatest composers in the 20 th century.Stravinsky's harmony language has attracted much attention since the performance of Spring Festival.His works have a strong primitive style,so he is labeled as a pioneer.Instead of continuing on the road of nationalism,he entered into the creation of neoclassicism."Three Movement Symphony" is his work in the transition period from late neoclassicism to serialism.The harmony language of this works not only extends the early style,but also has the concise characteristics of neoclassicism,and permeates the tendency towards serialism.This paper mainly studies and summarizes the core group,chord structure,harmony connection and voice part,as well as the tone of the mode in "Three Movement Symphony" in order to clarify Stravinsky's harmony technique and different style characteristics in different periods.This paper is mainly divided into six parts: the first chapter is a summary of Stravinsky's early creative characteristics and harmony language,the second chapter is the core group which introduces the typical groups and sequences used in the works,and summarizes their development.The third chapter is the chord structure of Three Movements,which analyses the specific chord structure in the works.The fourth chapter is the harmony progression in the works.The fifth chapter is the summary of typical harmony.It introduces the modes adopted in the works and the tone layout of each movement.Chapter 6 summarizes the characteristics of harmony and other factors."Three Movement Symphony" summarizes the early and mid-term harmony characteristics of Stravinsky,and at the same time has the style characteristics of blending with the times,the diversity of pitch materials,and its harmony techniques have a far-reaching impact on subsequent composers and theorists.
