Exegesis Research On Zhou Shu Jiao Bu

Sun Yirang was a well-konwn Confucianist,exegeticist and epigrapher in the late Qing Dynasty.He enjoyed a high reputation in the academic circles at the end of the Qing Dynasty and was praised as the "rear guard" of simple and plain learning in the Qing Dynasty.Zhou Shu Jiao Bu is an exegetical work of collating and explaining Yi Zhou Shu.This book revises the annotations of the predecessors and makes textual analysis of difficult words and sentences.Although there are few explanatory items,it has its own characteristics and high value of exegetical research.Starting from the contents and methods of exegesis,this paper analyses the specific exegetical items of Zhou Shu Jiao Bu,finds out the exegetical theory from the proofreading,and explores Sun Yirang's exegetical thoughts,with a view to providing some useful materials for the study of Zhou Shu Jiao Bu and Sun Yirang's exegetical studies.This paper mainly discusses four aspects.First,introduction.introducing the general situation of Sun Yirang and Zhou Shu Jiao Bu,clarifying the current research situation of Sun Yirang's exegesis,and explaining the significance of this paper.Secondly,the exegetical content of Zhou Shu Jiao Bu.Its exegetical content mainly includes six aspects: explanatory words,analyzing sentences,collating errors,explaining the title,exposition rhetoric,textual research on the name of things and the ancient ritual system.Because Sun was proficient in ancient books and philology,most of his collations and explanations were very accurate.However,there were occasional subjective assumptions in his explanations.Thirdly,the exegetical method of Zhou Shu Jiao Bu.There are three exegetical methods commonly used in Zhou Shu Jiao Bu:explaining the meaning of words through sound,elucidating the meaning of words by character'shape and justifying meaning according to text.Although these are traditional exegetical methods,there are many innovations in identifying interchangeable words,searching for etymology and sorting out the relationship between words.Fourth,the exegetical features and shortcomings of Zhou Shu Jiao Bu.The greatest feature of Exegetics in Zhou Shu Jiao Bu is the abundant citation of documents,detailed research of the name of things and the ancient ritual system,and the extensive use of ancient characters to correct errors.The shortcomings of Zhou Shu Jiao Bu are mainly reflected in the confusion in the use of exegetical terminologies and individual collation and interpretation are too arbitrary.
