One of the new perspectives that may be useful in the study of translation is Bakhtin's dialogism, one rationality of which is that the dialogism requires the communication of several participants. As one kind of descriptive perspective, its potential is yet to be unraveled. The most challenging part lies in the fact that there lacks an advanced and reasonable theoretical framework ready for application. The paper aims to construct a potential alternative to expound literary translation. The author sets the foot on dialogism to develop a case study of two Chinese versions of Kipling's Kim.In the analysis, several dialogic relationships are outlined. It deals with different attitudes of the translators behind the dialogic relationships and offers a display of how the attitude determines their strategies. The research demonstrates that different approaches in translation depend on their positions in dialogic network of relations for contrastive textual effects.Translators become the first readers on the condition that they accept the presupposed dialogues. The inner dialogue of the translator within the reader/author identity brings out significant impacts.
