With the development of English education,English,as one of the important courses in primary and secondary schools in our country,researches about its teaching methods and applications of teaching strategy have being getting more and more attentions,however,the corresponding vocabulary teaching research is still inadequate.Context is the foundation of speakers use the language to express their own thoughts,emotions,or deduction,analysis and understanding of the various factors in the process of verbal communication,which is the basis of the language environment.Combining context with study the English vocabulary teaching of primary school can help students get better vocabulary acquisition in the classroom.Although many related researches have made great progress in the application of context theory to vocabulary teaching,some aspects of context theory and application are still inadequate and incomplete.For instance,English class is concerned with how to create context,and how to make it still in use.At the same time,there still exists some deficiency that covers from presenting the vocabulary to consolidating the vocabulary,to using vocabulary efficiently.Works on context at home are still fewer compared with the works in other linguistic fields.The thesis focuses on how to stimulate the primary school students' interest in vocabulary learning and how to improve their vocabulary learning strategies on the basis of context.It is concluded that contextual English vocabulary teaching can effectively overcome the shortcomings of traditional English vocabulary teaching and has certain advantages.
