A Preliminary Study Of Zhong Dianfei's Film Criticism

Zhong Dianfei is an important critic and esthetician in the history of Chinese film.In the 1930 s,as a propaganda cadre of the Party,he formally entered his literary career.In 1957,Zhong Dianfei published his thoughts about the film of workers,peasants and soldiers,ticket prices and film audiences in �The Gong and Drum of the Film�.because of this article,he suffered from political persecution for a time.Until the 1980 s,he was once again at the second peak of his film career.During this period,he devoted himself to the study of film aesthetics and film criticism.He put forward some important theoretical viewpoints such as divorce between film and drama,chord theory,the western film and so on,which made important contributions to the development of Chinese film industry in the new period.As a film critic,Zhong Dianfei wrote millions of words in his life and left many excellent chapters,which were sorted out in Gong and Drum of the Movie,Lu chenji,Pacemaker Book and Film policy.However,Zhong Dianfei failed to complete a systematic theoretical work,which led him to be underestimated in the study of Chinese films.This article will take his published articles and film activities as the text,trying to excavate and depict Zhong's film aesthetics and film criticism.
