Korean American writer Annabelle Kim's work Tiger Pelt was published in the United States in 2016.Her cool and objective judgment ability and deep realistic narrative art urge readers to sweep away the dust of history,and to realize that the hidden real history.Annabelle Kim recreates a neglected history through Hana in Tiger Pelt.Under this special historical background,the physical and psychological trauma suffered by women under the oppression of colonialism and patriarchy,Annabelle Kim individualizes the psychological and physical trauma of comfort women to Hana.Through Hana,she shows her the ravages and ravages of war on women,reveals the atrocities committed by the Japanese government and the military,and to some extent helps them recover their significance and status in history.Reconstructing their self-identity.Based on the theme of identity loss and reconstruction,this paper is interpreted by post-colonialism and feminism.This thesis is composed of five parts.The first chapter is the introduction,including the introduction of the work,literature review,the research methods and the purpose and significance of the thesis.The second chapter analyzes the loss of the body and identity of the comfort woman.Hana's narration brings readers back to the historical period of Japanese occupation of Korea and the experiences of those Korean women as comfort women in that period.The Japanese aggressors carries out aggression in a sexual way.By the way of sexual violence,the Japanese aggressors sustains their imperialist power in the occupied land Korea,under which women are violated,ruled and humiliated.The comfort women are victims as sex slaves and political interests.Hana is,arguably,a slave and victim of such Japanese power violence against Korea lost her female identity.The third chapter analyzes the loss of cultural identity,the loss of female identity is a hot topic in Asian American literary novels.The cultural identity of Korean American women is complex because of the special historical and cultural background.The cultural identity of the heroine Hana in Tiger Pelt is especially complicated because of the special historical background,race and gender.This chapter discusses how Hana loses her voice under the oppression of patriarchy,post-imperialism,and analyzes the real root of cultural identity deprivation.Chapter four analyzes the status construction of comfort women.The awakening of self-consciousness is very important to identity construction.In the patriarchal society,reacquiring female subjectivity is a prerequisite for women to construct their identity.Therefore,in the face of Japanese military sexual oppression,Hana as one of the representatives of comfort women strives to pursue sexual freedom,so as to regain body autonomy and get rid of sexual object identity.Although Hana has been experiencing setbacks and failures in her attempts to construct identity,her efforts and struggles have never stopped.She reconstructs her female and cultural identity through her being independence by working and owing the laundry store and through her returning back to the Korean community.The fifth chapter is the conclusion part.By analyzing Hana as a tool of the Japanese army,she lived a completely inhuman life.Her body and heart were extremely hurt and even her life was not guaranteed.From the perspective of feminism and cultural memory,this thesis interprets Hana in Tiger Pelt through her physical and psychological trauma under the oppression of colonialism and patriarchy,as well as the loss and construction of self-identity,and emphasizes that cultural memory is a good approach of recovering the trauma and reconstruct the cultural identity.
