This paper takes Nora Okja Keller's Comfort Woman as translation material. In this novel, the writer expressed her opinion with a variety of vivid words. One of the most outstanding characteristics is the varied dependent clauses, especially the adverbial clause with different locations and different conjunctions. Taking the differences between English and Chinese in to full consideration, the writer deals with the translation flexibly under the guidance of functional equivalence theory. This article analyzes the classifications and characteristics of the adverbial clause in Comfort Woman, and translates the relevant adverbial clauses with some suitable translation strategies like linear translation, change of sentence order, conversion and division. The thesis expects that such methods can make the translation fluent, accurate, and in line with the expression habits of the target language. At the same time, it can provide certain reference on the induction of E-C adverbial clause translation in English literature.
