The research on listening teaching in China began in the 1970 s and 1980 s.Compared with the teaching of reading,writing,speaking and other English skills,the research on listening teaching in China has a shorter time and a narrower scope.At present,most provinces and municipalities in China have examined English listening in the secondary school entrance examination,and the proportion of listening scores in the total score of English is relatively high.The traditional listening teaching mode of “listening to recording-doing exercises-checking answers” has existed in English listening classes for a long period of time and its drawbacks are constantly emerging.Due to the differences in teaching level and teaching environment,especially in urban and rural schools where economic conditions are poor,teaching resources are insufficient and listening teaching facilities are scarce,English listening teaching in primary and secondary schools is mere formality,and students' overall listening level is not high.How to improve students' listening ability is a problem that experts,scholars and English teachers have been discussing for a long time.In this study,105 students from grade two of Huaiyang No.1 Senior High School in Henan Province were selected for a 12-week(three-month)teaching practice.There are 52 students in class 8 grade 2,as an experimental class,which use with interactive teaching method to teach English listening.While,there are 53 students in Class 9 grade 2,as a control class,which use traditional teaching mode to teach English listening.Before the experiment,the listening proficiency of the two classes was tested before the experiment.After the experiment,the students' listening levels of the two classes were also tested in English listening.The test results were compared and analyzed by SPSS software.In addition,before and after the teaching experiment,questionnaires were conducted in two classes to find out whether the application of interactive teaching method in junior high school English listening teaching has an impact on students' interest in learning.The results of the experiment show that the students' listening performance and learning interest have been improved after using interactive teaching method in junior high school English listening class.This study has verified through experiments that the application of interactive teaching method in junior high school English listening class is of positive significance to improve students' listening performance and stimulate students' interest in learning.
