Russia's Plundering Of Forest Resources In Northeast China At T He Beginning Of The Twentieth Century

Russia has long wanted to occupy the forested northeast of China,one of the richest regions in the country with abundant timber resources.With the construction of the Middle East railway,Russia has obtained the right of forest cutting along the railway in the form of contract.The beginning of the 20th century,when the railway is completed,in the Middle East and Russia should stop the massive wood cutting,but to accelerate the pace of colonial expansion,maximize the possession of forest resources in China's northeast,has forced the Qing government to sign a series of timber logging contract,take get along the railway and the Middle East Heilongjiang and Jilin provinces large areas of forest rights.However,Russia did not satisfy the interests it had obtained and continued to plunder the forest resources of northeast China by setting up timber enterprises.After the establishment of Russian timber enterprises in northeast China,Russia carried out a new round of plunder on the forest resources of northeast China by means of fast railway transportation and advanced cutting technology,which brought serious damage to the forests of northeast China.Therefore,this paper took the representative Russian timber enterprises and forest farms in the early 20th century as an example,analyzed their production and management activities,and explored the plunder of forest resources in northeast China and the harm it caused.
