The Con-categorization Study Of "A Jiushi A" Construction Based On CM Model

In recent years,the �A jiushi A� Construction frequently comes into existence in modern Chinese,such as �Shangren jiushi Shangren�,�Chikui jiushi Chikui�,�Li Jiacheng jiushi Li Jiacheng� and �Liangyuan jiushi Liangyuan�,which attracts wide attentions in the field of linguistics.The Construction is illustrated systematically from the cognitive linguistics.Many scholars respectively introduce the �A jiushi A� Construction from the syntactic,semantic and pragmatic aspects.In syntax,the Construction is a sentence pattern with repeated words used as both subject and predicative,which can also be expressed as the Chinese Tautology.In semantics,the two �A�s indicate different meaning.In pragmatics,the Construction presents subjectivity,concision,novelty and productivity.However,the process of dynamic changes of �A jiushi A� Construction can hardly be taken into consideration.The thesis tries to explain the dynamic changes of the Construction is a process of Con-categorization.In view of it,the thesis has collected 1068 corpus exhaustively from the corpus of the CCL and formed a closed corpus.Then,the thesis establishes the CM Model combing the theory of Cognitive Construction Coercion and Metonymy.Based on the theoretical framework,the thesis qualitatively and quantitatively analyzes 1068 corpora in syntactic,semantic and pragmatic aspects and further expounds the process of Con-categorization of the �A jiushi A� Construction and hopes for the rationality of the CM Model.The findings of this thesis are as follows:First,the CM Model has been established as the theoretical framework in the thesis to elucidate the process of Con-categorization of the Construction systematically,which remedies the shortcomings of the dynamic categorization of the previous studies.Second,the semantic meaning of the Construction has been discussed in the thesis from the four aspects of philosophy of language including from referential meaning to non-referential meaning,from objective description to subjective evaluation,from abstract to concreteness and from dictionary to encyclopedic meaning,which makes up for the deficiency that the previous studies simply concentrates on the semantic meaning of the Construction in linguistics to further demonstrate its process of Con-categorization.And it is showed that the semantic focus of the Construction is concentrated on the latter �A�.Third,the thesis has studied from the level of single Construction to the sentence group through analyzing 961 corpora of the �A jiushi A� Construction and its subsequent sentences.The thesis finds that the subsequent sentences of the Construction aim to further explain the latter �A�.The sense relations of the Construction and the subsequent sentences include causal,adversative,progressive,sup-positional,coordinating,conditional,and conceding,which further illustrates the result of Con-categorization is to highlight the semantic information of the latter �A�.
