This dissertation is a practical report on the mock interpretation of Toby Walsh' s speech AI for Social Good and Zongchengqing's speech Linguistic Intelligence with Its Applications(both English to Chinese and Chinese to English).Based on the recording of the simulated interpretation, problems encountered in the process of interpreting are summarized and feasible strategies are proposed. The simultaneous interpreting for the two speeches is very challenging.Simultaneous interpreting entails a large number of almost concurrent cognitive, psychomotor and affective processes, all of which pose major challenges for the interpreter who has to deal with them simultaneously. In this speech, there are many terminologies and the speaking speed is fairly fast, which added to the difficulties of interpreting.Besides, this corpus also requires a good understanding of certain fields such as AI,politics and medical treatment. This mock conference provides a platform for the interpreter to put theories learned in classes into practice and improve interpreting skills. The interpreter hopes to further enhance her on-site interpreting performance and if possible, provide some insights and helpful references to fellow interpreters and relevant studies.
