The Study And Application Of Light And Shadow In Rembrandt’s Oil Paintings

Rembrandt is one of the representative painters of European baroque art and a major figure of Dutch painting in the 17 th century.His life has experienced ups and downs,from the glorious period to the tragic years caused by his refusal to compromise with the secular world and his insistence on following his own artistic feelings.He was one of the most successful artist in the Netherlands,influenced by the religious painting in the light of his early years,works showed the scenes of the bible,then of light and shade drawings of caravaggio far-reaching to him,he just run out of a more personal characteristic,with precise triangle light,draw the outline of the contour line of characters,to hide the rest of the light and dark.Give a person with stable and grave feeling,and the processing of the background is given priority to with black brown or shallow olive brown.This paper analyzes the characteristics of Rembrandt’s light through four parts and applies them in the author’s creation.The previous part mainly discusses Rembrandt’s life and the characteristics of light in his oil paintings in different periods,and compares the contemporary and contemporary artists with Rembrandt’s painting styles at home and abroad.The middle part is mainly the process of the author’s research and painting during his graduate study.The latter part mainly discusses its technique in the author’s own creation application,this paper is the application paper.
