Research On The Creation Path Of Documentary Films With Ordinary Characters

With the rapid development of network and new media,the traditional TV documentary faces a new challenge and survival test.The traditional character documentary has the characteristics of long length,slow rhythm and grand narration,which are not suitable for the modern people’s fast-paced life style and fragmented reading habits.Especially after the emergence of a large number of shooting software and video playing platforms,the process of video shooting,production and release has been greatly simplified,and the enthusiasm of the public for participating in film and television creation has never been higher.As the short and pithy videos take the ordinary people and things in life as their shooting objects,the traditional form of documentary film has been impact greatly.In the face of this situation,the documentary makers,on the basis of ensuring the authenticity of the characters,the story and the emotion,excavate the subjects of common interest in life and the multiple dimensions of the characters,add zest into the content,enhance their understanding of the audience’s feedback on the film and focus on the cultivation of the audience base.Adopting the methods of literature research,case analysis,induction and summary and based on the creative experience of the graduation work "Dream Dancer",this paper takes the documentary of ordinary characters as the research object so as to clarify the development process and explore the creation path.This paper sorts out the general situation of the development of the character documentary,defines the concept of the character documentary and divides it into three categories according to the character characteristics: the social celebrity,the ordinary character and the grass-roots character.Taking advantage of the actual shooting experience,this paper makes a comparative analysis of the differences between the creation path of ordinary documentary characters and other documentary subjects from the perspective of image construction path,narrative path and empathy path.The author holds that since the image construction of the general character documentary serves as the second creation of the creator on the basis of reality,the unity of the character’s individuality and generality should be grasped and the details should be captured to supplement the content.This paper aims to explore the narrative concept,diversified narrative language and non-linear narrative structure of ordinary character documentaries in line with reality and objectivity.It expounds the use of empathy in the common characters documentary and holds.That the common humanity expression of empathy is universal and able to represent the emotions and destiny of the characters.It is found that the creation of documentary about ordinary subjects is prone to homogenization,excessive sensationalism,script traces,creation out of practice and so on.As for these problems,feasible and effective solutions will be put forward in this paper.
