Qian Xinzhi, given name Yong Ming, courtesy name Xin Zhi,is one of the representatives of outstanding bankers in modern China. He plays an important role in the development of China's modern financial industry and banking industry.Qian Xinzhi, together with Zhang Jiaao,Chen Guangpu and Li Ming,is known as the four giants during the Republic of China for his outstanding achievements in the banking industry. His position can be summed up in one sentence. If we want to have a comprehensive understanding of China's modern financial history, then the study of Qian Xinzhi is indispensable.Throughout Qian Xinzhi's life, there were three main stages in his management of the banking business.First stage was the reorganization of Bank of Communications from 1922 to 1925.During this period,Bank of Communications was in the state of free competition.Qian's administration of the Central Bank fully reflected his idea of reform and innovation.Second stage was the management of Four-Bank Savings Club from1926 to 1949.During this period, the national government had a monopoly on the financial market.Qian xinzhi operated financial institutions with the nature of private commercial savings banks.Third stage was from 1938 to 1949,during which Qian served as the chairman of Bank of Communications. He maintained and managed Bank of Communications under background of the national government's financial monopoly and the Anti-Japanese War.Compared with last period, the concept of innovation operation and free operation implemented by Qian xinzhi to Bank of Communications was somewhat less.Because Bank of Communications was under the unified command of the Four Banks Combination Office then. However,Qian's unique bank operation concept and patriotic thought was still existing in the wartime financial monopoly. The management of Bank of Communications was an extremely important part in Qian's banking career. There are four chapters in this thesis. The first chapter explains how Qian Xinzhi takes over Bank of Communications. It introduces the rise of banker group in modern China,Qian's early life as a member of banker group, and his experience of studying in Japan as well as his predestined relationship with Bank of Communications. The secondchapter narrates Qian Xinzhi's administration of Bank of Communications during the period of Beiyang Government. It clearly describes how Qian operates and reorganizes Bank of Communications in face of an extremely difficult situation. It also expounds Qian's ascent in the financial field and accumulation of experience after the financial innovation of Bank of Communications. The third chapter is about Qian's management of Bank of Communications during the period of the National Government. Then national war of resistance against Japanese aggression broke out.Qian Xinzhi was appointed to serve as the chairman of Bank of Communications, and made great contributions to Bank of Communications under the command of the Four Banks Combination Office, showing his strong patriotic feeling. The forth chapter is a review of Qian's administration of Bank of communications.Firstly,it simply compares the general situation of Qian's operation of Bank of Communications in two periods. Then,it makes an objective comment on Qian's management of Bank of Communications from the perspective of social responsibility.
