English writing as a basic skill plays an important role in senior high school English teaching and learning.However,senior high school students have many problems in English writing and they also have low interest and learning anxiety in English writing.In senior high schools,many teachers focused on using different teaching approaches to improve students' writing scores,instead of their writing interest,confidence and ability.Therefore,it is a hard work for English teachers to reduce students' writing anxiety,increase their writing interest,confidence and improve their writing ability.The author has found that community language learning teaching approach can apply to English writing teaching to solve those problems and improve students' writing ability.Community language learning(CLL)is a teaching approach that popular among educators at home and abroad.CLL comes from psychological counseling and it is a concrete application of counseling theory.It was proposed by Professor Charles A.Curran who was from Loyola University in Chicago.CLL is consistent with the requirements of current English teaching practice and reform and it focus on students' learning anxiety,interest,learning process and learning ability.Many scholars and teachers have studied CLL teaching approach in English speaking teaching but there are few achievements in senior high school English writing teaching.In this research,the author tries to explore the important effect of CLL in senior high schools English writing teaching.The author hopes that CLL can increase senior high school students' writing interest,improve their writing abilities and reduce their writing anxiety.Thus,the main research questions are as follows.1)What are the main problems in English writing in senior high schools?2)What are the advantages of CLL teaching approach?3)What are the effects of the CLL teaching approach in senior high school English writing teaching?In order to answer the questions,the author gave an experiment in Ruzhou No.1 Senior High School.This experiment lasted one semester and the subjects were two parallel classes of Grade Two in No.1 Senior High School of Ruzhou in Henan Province.In the process,the Experimental Class adopted CLL while the Control Class used the traditional teaching approach in English writing class.In this study,the research instruments are questionnaire,interview and test.Two questionnaires and two interviews in EC show that CLL can reduce students' learning anxiety and improve their English writing interest.A pre-test and post-test of CC and EC show that CLL can improve students' English writing ability.To conclude,CLL is an effective approach in senior high school English writing teaching.
