| Norwegian Wood(Japanese: ノルウェイの森,Noruwei no Mori),once a sensational novel,is one of the most representative works of famous Japanese author Haruki Murakami.23 years after its publication,a film adaptation of this novel was directed by Tran Anh Hung,a Vietnamese-born French film director, and released in cinemas in 2010.At the beginning of its production, the film got a lot of attention due to Tran Anh Hung and Haruki Murakami’s teaming up.However, after the film was released, its box office income turned out to be unsatisfactory, and, with mixed praises and criticisms from critics and audiences,it became a hot topic of debate. This paper aims at comprehensively comparing and analyzing the novel Norwegian Wood and its film adaptation, and, based on the links between them, summarizing the influence of the original novel on the film adaptation, which is helpful to sum up experience and lessons from the adaptation and to provide a new reference and a different perspective for the theory and practice of literature-based film adaptation. |
