Research On F Liu Tianhua's Ceramic Works

Liu Jianhua is one of the most important contemporary artists in China.He brings ceramic materials to the practice in the context of contemporary art to explore the possibility.Liu Jianhua has been dealing with ceramics since he was a child and it is his familiarity with ceramic materials that is a chance for him to start creating with ceramic materials.Europeans was proud of having a piece of Chinese porcelain in their houses before the 18 th century.It can be seen that Chinese porcelain is well known all over the world.It was once equivalent to gold and could even be used to exchange goods.However,people's most understanding of ceramics remains on arts and crafts.The same is true of Chinese contemporary artists.Liu Jianhua has a certain understanding of ceramics and has a desire for contemporary art by chance,so the combination of ceramic materials and contemporary art in Liu Jianhua's works is then prompted.This paper took the development of Chinese contemporary art after the reform and opening up as the clue and introduced the effect of Chinese contemporary art on Liu Jianhua's works,and conducted an in-depth analysis and research on Liu Jianhua's works at different stages.Liu Jianhua's works are mainly divided into three stages.The first stage is “Painted sculpture series”,which is the turning point of Liu Jianhua's use of material after his graduation.The second stage is a series of works with greenish white porcelain as the material.This series of works is a large-scale summary of daily necessities with the “Regular/Fragile” as the main clue,and “Shadows in the Water” and “Transformation of Memories” also reflect the influence of social urbanization on our lives.However,after these two series,Liu Jianhua's works has been presented in rich and various forms.Whether in “Blank Paper” to be written or “Container” carrying the historical records,Liu Jianhua has expressed in his own unique way of language.Having a deeper understanding of Liu Jianhua's works can help us know more about the possibilities of ceramic materials and also have an impact on my creation.
