Intertemporal choice refers to the psychological process of making various judgments and choices by weighing the costs and benefits that occur in different periods in the future. There are many factors influencing intertemporal choice, such as emotions, level of understanding, personality, and relevant characteristics of decision makers. The purpose of this study was to study the effects of different levels of interpreta-tion and self-control levels on intertemporal selection tasks during intertemporal selec-tion.This study explores the characteristics of individual trade-off options under differ-ent intertemporal dates and different selection difficulty, and studies the two variables of interpretation level and self-control.At the same time, the level of individual self-control is taken as the grouping standard, and the research subjects are different. The different levels of interpretative decision-making under the initiation of the interpretation level can not only confirm the mechanism of time discount occurrence, but also increase the research on personality and decision-related fields. In real life,it can also help people make more rational decisions. The research object of this study is college students, there are two experimental studies. In Study 1,the selection task in the intertemporal selection task is used to explore the influence of interpretation level and trait self-control level on intertemporal selection and its interaction;Experiment 2 uses the same intertemporal selection task as Experiment 1.The stroop task is used to change the state of self-control of the subject, and attempts to explore the impact of state self-control on intertemporal choice preferences.research shows:(1)Individuals with low trait self-control and individuals with high trait self-control have significant differences in inter-temporal choice preferences.Subjects with lower self-control have a more pronounced tendency to choose immediate options; There is no significant difference in control level versus inter-temporal choice preferences.(2)Participants with low interpretation level initiation and participants with high interpretation level initiation have significant differences in intertemporal selection preferences, and subjects with low interpretation levels are more likely to choose immediate options.(3)Subjects with different levels of self-control will reduce the loss of self-control resources to a certain extent under the guidance of high interpretation level. However, under the low interpretation level, the immediate option rate of intertemporal selection will not Affected by the level of state self-control.Individuals with lower levels of state self-control choose more of the immediate options.
