Study On The Great Wall In Gansu In Ming Dynasty

The Great Wall is the witness of China's long history and the epitome of ancient political,economic and military culture.The Great Wall of the Ming Dynasty is a military defense project built in the northern part of the Ming Dynasty.It is called the Side Wall in order to distinguish it from the Great Wall of the Wanli built by Qin Shihuang.According to its function,the Great Wall of the Ming Dynasty was divided into "outside","inside" and "inside three passes".It was built in Hongwu period of Taizu,and in Chenghua period of Xianzong,it began to be built on a large scale.The construction history of the Great Wall runs through the Ming Dynasty.Until the Ming Dynasty,the Great Wall still plays an important role in military defense.This paper studies the Great Wall in Gansu Province,the western section of the Ming Dynasty,which is less concerned,in order to deepen the overall understanding of the Great Wall in the Ming Dynasty,and further explore the internal role of the Great Wall in Gansu Province in the Ming Dynasty.Although the Ming Dynasty overthrew the Yuan Dynasty,conflicts with the northern Mongolian ministries continued.The Ming Dynasty set up the Great Wall town in Hexi area in order to prevent frontier trouble in Northwest China.Gansu Town was the important town in this area in Ming Dynasty.Because of the special geographical and military factors,it is very important to build the Great Wall in Gansu.Gansu is the combination of Ganzhou(now Zhangye)and Suzhou(now Jiuquan).In the Ming Dynasty,Gansu refers to the Hexi Corridor area.The construction of the Great Wall of Gansu and Sucheng in Ming Dynasty mainly includes two parts,one is the south side wall,the other is the north side wall.Through the analysis of these two parts,we can understand the general situation and characteristics of the main Great Wall construction in Gansu area in Ming Dynasty and its role at that time.The Great Wall of Gansu in Ming Dynasty has gone through hundreds of years.However,there are few remains of the Great Wall of Ming Dynasty in Gansu,some of which are only on the ground.Mainly distributed in Baiyin City,Lanzhou City,Wuwei City,Zhangye City,Jiuquan City,Jiayuguan City,Jingtai County,Shandan County,and other 44 counties(cities,prefectures)and regions.Because the Great Wall of the Ming Dynasty in Gansu has not been strongly protected,besides naturalfactors,human factors can not be ignored.The Great Wall is the material carrier of the spirit of Chinese civilization and the symbol of the Chinese nation.To protect the Great Wall is to protect the dignity of the country and the national dignity.Only by looking at the Great Wall from this height can we enhance the sense of responsibility and consciousness of protecting the Great Wall.
