The paper is about military fortress research both from microcosmic level and macrocosmic level, and the content includes space-time distributing regulation, defensive characteristics, layer and dimension, outside structure of system. Military fortress along the Great Wall in Ming dynasty is described in three periods and space-time distributing regulation of military fortress in nine defense areas is explored. Defensive characteristics, inside and outside fortification of military fort in military fortress are analyzed with exploration and historical materials. Military fortress was ranked five levels, including Zhen Town, Lu Town, Wei Town, Suo Town, Bao Town, and introduction of different characteristics of the towns explain the relationship between the levels of military fortress and town dimension. Last study is on outside structure of military, which involves spacious structure and artistic characteristics of inside military fort, similarity of military fortress in sociology and architecture, difference between military fortress and village fortress, and two evolutional routes, from fort to fort and from fort to town. Misunderstanding, such as the Great Wall came of Chu Fang Chen, and the defense is due to its wall, is corrected, and the proposal is brought forward that the Great Wall came of Feng, defensive system of military affairs is composed of the Great Wall in Ming Dynasty, military fortress, signal fire platform, post house, sentry and pass, and the system is of level, integrity and system..
