In September 2012,“Collation of Complete Collection of Inscriptions and Images of Bronzes from Shang and Zhou Dynastie” was published by Shanghai Classics Publishing Press.The book was compiled by Mr.Wu Zhenfeng,a researcher at Shaanxi Academy of Archaeology with a total of 16,702 pieces of bronzes handed down and newly unearthed from Shang and Zhou Dynasties being included(which can be traced back to February 2012 at latest).Among them,20,554 rubbings of inscriptions(photographs and copies),11,426 images(photographs and copies),and four million words of written materials are included with more than 700 pieces being first recorded.It is the most comprehensive bronze inscriptions and images collection of Shang and Zhou Dynasties.As a detailed and comprehensive collection of bronze inscriptions,incomplete or incorrect collection of images,rubbings and descriptive information will inevitably exist in “Collation of Complete Collection of Inscriptions and Images of Bronzes from Shang and Zhou Dynastie”.To ensure the accuracy of the book as a basic recording material,and to provide a more complete and accurate material for researchers of ancient Chinese characteristics,,archaeologists and historians,it is necessary to supplement and revise its contents.Based on the existing recording materials,relevant databases and museum resources,the paper has checked relevant images,rubbings and copies involved one by one with correction and supplementary of missing records and images.This paper is divided into three parts: preface,supplement and appendix.The preface makes an explanation on the scope and significance,structure and content,shortcomings and disadvantages on the basis of a brief description of the research background and current research situation;as a main part;the supplement continues the work of Sui Lun and Ma Lizhi,focuses on the revisions and supplements of Shadows,Inscriptions and Related Descriptions for Volumes 21-26 of “Collation of Complete Collection of Inscriptions and Images of Bronzes from Shang and Zhou Dynastie”.forthe appendix,it includes four parts: the image integration correlator,the confusion table,the new image summary table and the reference bibliography(abbreviated as the reference table).
