Painted pottery has been discovered in many Neolithic sites in central and southern part of Inner Mongolia.This paper gathered the materials that are unearthed and collected in this area and they can be divided into 20 categories according to their differences in ornamentation.They are mainly centered in the Bainiyao Culture and Miaozigou Culture in Yangshao Period from the cultural ownership.It is found that the painted pottery of each archaeological culture in this region has a close relationship with archaeological cultures in the neighboring areas through comparative study.Combined with evolution of the painted pottery itself,the development of the painted pottery in the central and southern part of Inner Mongolia can be divided into three major stages.This paper can be divided into five chapters.Chapter 1: Introduction.Introduce the research background,research status and the study purpose and importance of this paper.Chapter 2: The discovery of the painted pottery and classification of ornamentation.Collect data for the painted pottery which are unearthed and investigated from sites in central and southern part of Inner Mongolia.Classify the ornamentation of painted pottery.Clarify the patterns of the painted pottery in the central and southern part of Inner Mongolia.Chapter 3: Cultural ownership of painted pottery.Combined with the relevant archaeological cultures and stage studies in the central and southern part of Inner Mongolia,the published painted pottery is included in the corresponding archaeological cultures and stage in order to make clear about the characteristics and evolution history of the archaeological cultures painted pottery in the central and southern part of Inner Mongolia.Chapter 4: The appearance and development of painted pottery.Compare the painted pottery in the archaeological cultures of central and southern part of Inner Mongolia with the painted pottery in the neighboring areas.Analyze interaction between them.Divide the stage of painted pottery in the central and southern part of Inner Mongolia and know the development trend of the painted pottery in this area from to now.Chapter 5: Conclusion.
