Because the Jingjiang section is high in the west and low in the east,it faces the Jinghan Plain and encounters the Jianghan Plain.Once the upstream river flow increases,it is easy to cause flooding in the Jingjiang River Basin.Since ancient times, the people in the Jingjiang River Basin are facing the threat of flooding.Limited by the level of knowledge, people regard floods as a supernatural force. In the face of floods,in the cognitive situation that cannot explain the reasons for this, people still think that the flood may be a monster or a beast in the water,so they worship the gods in the water. There are three main categories of worship of the water god beliefs in the Jingjiang River Basin: spiritual worship, native water gods and exotic water gods. The first category, spiritual worship, such as: the lungs, the patio, the sea eye and the thunderbolt. The second category, the local water god,is mainly divided into natural water god, personified water god, historical figure water god and mythical animal water god.The third category, foreign water gods, mainly include Gong Gong,Xiao Gong and Tian Hao.There are two typical forms of water god beliefs in the Jingjiang River Basin. One is the official and folk construction of the Water Temple, such as the Temple of the King, the Temple of Dongting, and the Temple of the River. The other is the official ceremony of the water god sacrifice to express the right.Worship of the water god.The objects of the water gods in the Jingjiang River Valley are Jiangshen,Jiangshen,Dragon God and Dongting Lake God.The practice of water conservation is a folk phenomenon that is common in frequent flooding areas. The Jingjiang River has a long history of water customs, but the custom of suppressing water with iron oxen was especially prevalent in the qing dynasty. The prototype of the iron ox used to suppress water was the jiaoduan of the auspicious beast worshiped by the ancients. At the same time, the use of iron cattle to suppress water was also related to the belief in ancient times that water monsters feared iron.According to the principle of the five elements, the cow is a soil and can be used for water. Therefore, the cast iron cattle serve the dragon. In the Jingjiang River Basin, there are legends about the use of water to control the water, because it can grow infinitely and can annihilate the flood and get rid of it.The geographical location of the soil has shifted, and it has been transformed into the outer embankment of Gangneung City from Gangneung City. The myth of using water to control floods reflects the idea of the primitive ancestors fighting floods. The essence of the interest in the soil has also changed, from a simple religious belief to a product of witchcraft. The water god beliefs in the Jingjiang River Basin are characterized by a single singular object,a typical water god worship of historical figures,a very prominent spiritual worship, and a serious influence by primitive religion and witchcraft.Because the people believe in the water god,it has an important influence on the regional culture and traditional festivals. On the fifth day of the lunar calendar every year, people will perform activities to worship the "narcissus" Qu Yuan.Qu Yuan's godhead is a water god,and the sacrifice of the narcissus Qu Yuan was originally a religious activity, and then gradually changed into the custom of the Dragon Boat Festival. The Dragon Boat Festival is also going to be a dragon boat race, and it is also a ritual activity for the god of water.
