Materialistic Values And College Students' Filial Piety

Filial piety is a set of social degree and social behavior that children take their parents as the main object.In short,filial piety is a combination of filial attitude and filial behavior.Filial piety not only includes giving parents material needs,but also must be from the heart of respect,love their parents,to meet the spiritual needs of parents,parents died with the appropriate manner of burial.Filial piety is a traditional virtue of the Chinese nation.Its social functions are as follows: fostering sentiment,cohesing family,devoting to work and serving the country,supporting parents and shaping culture.Filial piety is a moral,or a social virtue,filial piety is responsible for social morality,shoulder social responsibility.However,in recent years,with the rapid development of economy in our country,materialism became popular consumer culture,filial piety landslide phenomenon is increasingly serious,therefore this study attempts to explore the relationship between materialistic values and college students' filial piety,gratitude and socioeconomic status in the role,in order to improve college students' filial conduct to provide suggestion.Questionnaire survey was conducted on 546 college students to know the relationship between materialistic values,filial piety,gratitude and socioeconomic status.The research conclusions are as follows:(1)the scores of college students with different gender and origin were significantly different in the dimensions of reciprocal filial piety and authoritative filial piety,the scores of female students were higher than that of male students in the dimensions of reciprocal filial piety,and the scores of male students were higher than that of female students in the dimensions of authoritative filial piety;Whether he or she is an only child,there was no significant difference in the dimensions of reciprocal filial piety,authoritative filial piety,and there was difference in the total score of filial piety;Whether single-parent familie,there was significant differences in the dimensions of reciprocal filial piety.(2)Materialistic values negatively predict filial piety and gratitude;Gratitude positively predicts filial piety.Gratitude plays a partial mediation role between College Students' materialism values and filial piety.(3)Socioeconomic status plays a moderating role between College students' materialistic values and filial piety.Specifically,Socioeconomic status do not change the direction of materialistic values and filial piety,but it can adjust the strength of the relationship between materialistic values and filial piety.
