The paper classifies the archaeological culture in the Eastern Part of Western Liaoning Area into six types,i.e.Dongdazhangzi,Sanguandian,Shuiquan,Wulanbaolage,Wangfen Mountain and Wudaohezi from the perspective of the direction, shape, and sacrifice of the cemeteries or tombs through cluster analysis on relics like funeral pottery, bronze sword, etc. With reference to the relevant research results, this paper conducts detailed discussions on issues of distribution, age, cultural connotation and origin of different cultural typology, and the evolution process and relationship of the remains of the region from the late Spring and Autumn Period to the Warring States period are preliminarily clarified. The research results of this paper show that the remains of the Eastern Part of Western Liaoning Area from the late Spring and Autumn Period to the Warring States Period cannot be collectively referred to as “Linghe Culture(Type or Remains)”.Even the three types of remains including the Northeastern copper sword shall not be merged into one archaeological culture.Specifically, the Dongdazhangzi type has absorbed relevant cultural factors of Liaodong and Liaohe River Plains of the same period on the basis of maintaining cultural factors of local Heshanggou type in early stage and has kept a close relationship with Yan culture. The Sanguandian type integrates with multi-cultural factors in early stage of Western Liaoning Area, and has kept a close relationship with Yuhuang Temple culture in Yannan and its associated Wudaohezi type;at the same time,it also has a certain connection with Yan culture.Based on the Shuiquan culture, the Wulanbaolag type is affected by both Dongdazhangzi type and Wangfen Mountain type. The Wangfen Mountain type has distinctive characteristics. It shall not contain the remains of the Northeastern copper swords, and may have been closely related to the Yan population. The emergence of many types from the late Spring and Autumn Period to the early Warring States period was related to the fact that the decline of strong culture in the region has not yet formed a certain scope of political entities. After the middle period of the Warring States period, the Shuiquan culture disappeared. The remains of the Northeastern copper swords centering on the Dongdazhangzi type, together with the Wangfen Mountain type, had a strong sense of identity with Yan culture, which laid the cultural foundation for the setting up of Youbeiping and Liaoxi counties by Yan.
